5 Easy Steps Towards Better Time Management

5 Easy Steps Towards Better Time Management

Working from home definitely has its benefits, however many of us remote workers find it hard to stay on task throughout the day. As a result, here is a few ways you can stay productive and enjoy the environment of your own home!

1.Create a schedule for your day

Working from home provides a great amount of flexibility compared to working a traditional 9 to 5 office job. However as much as sleeping in and wearing your pjs all day might make you more comfortable, designating tasks and setting goals for your workday will keep you on task and focused. Some of the best ways to do this is working out a planner day by day so you can keep your tasks, dates, meetings and priorities straight

2. Create an office workspace

It is suggested that a creating a designated workspace for your tasks greatly increases productivity throughout the day. Working in your bed might seem like the best option, but it is probably a little bit too comfortable for active working. Setting a space signals to the brain that it is time to work and can help you put you in the right mindset and organize your thoughts.

3. Take breaks!

It is important to utilize breaks throughout the day and give your mind a rest. You can get your best work done and be much more productive when you give yourself some time to recharge. With this being said, it is also important to be sure that these are productive breaks that don’t last too long. When you’re not in an office setting it’s easy to let time get away from you so be sure to hold yourself accountable and utilize breaks in a timely manner.

4. Eliminate Distractions

It’s hard to remain on task when there is no monitored structure to your day. This is why it is important to come into your workday with a clear mind. Some good ways to achieve this is to keep your work and home life separate to limit possible distractions. This might seem hard given that your office IS your home, but don’t fret, it’s all about your mindset when it comes to filtering your thoughts.

5. Review!

At the end of the day, it’s important to look back on your task sheet to see what you have accomplished. This way you can evaluate how well you spent your time and it makes it easier to determine what you can improve on for the following day.

Hopefully after reading this you will have some helpful tips on keeping procrastination at bay! Time management is a hard skill to master but at least now you are one step closer to becoming a pro.
